for the joy of the LORD is your strength.
- Nehemiah 8: 10
When you hear the word, joy what picture comes to your mind? The verb form of joy is rejoice. This means that the one who has joy in his heart will rejoice. It is rejoicing that proves that there is joy in the heart. Are you joyful today? If yes, why? If no, why not? Remember that joy is the product of spiritual realities. Nothing physical gives man real joy. All natural things do is to bring us happiness which is condition-sensitive.
Habakkuk writes in chapter 3:18 of his book, ‘Yet I will rejoice in the Lord…’ HE says in verse 17 that even though the fig tree does not blossom and there is no fruit on the vine, he will rejoice. He explains that he will not let his joy be affected even when the olive crops fail and the fields produce no food. Nothing that has happened or is happening should murder your joy. The joy of The LORD is the strength of the believer. Rejoice evermore says Apostle Paul in 1 Thessalonians 5: 16. Health issues, economic issues, relationship issues, career issues and all issues cannot stop the flow of the joy in you if you fix your heart on the promises of GOD.
A sister was always excited about The LORD, His work and His people. Her joy was always full. One day, a fellow made a very derogatory remark about her because she was yet to have a child. The person said, ‘What is this sister always smiling about? She does not mind the fact that she has no child?’ It was a display of ignorance and carnality on the part of the fellow.
Get busy loving The LORD, meditating on His promises and rejoicing in them. You will be eager to see every day and the spark in your eyes will tell of His great joy in your heart. May you get alerts of joy today.
