I listened to a Muslim cleric a long while back saying that the secret to avoiding fornication and adultery, especially for men, is not to take a second look at seductive ladies.
When he said this, I remembered that King David, the Lord’s elect, in the Scriptures, had a problem because he chose to have several looks at beautiful Bathsheba, Uriah’s wife, while bathing, when other kings were on the battle field (2 Sam 11:1-5).
A favorite Christian preacher also stated that one should know his/her weakness and act in line with this knowledge.
For instance, according to him, if you know you have a weakness with money, you should not accept being put in charge of money belonging to a group.
Also, if you know you have a weakness for the opposite sex, then avoid being alone with them.
I must state, however, that there is only one sure way to overcome all the temptations that come with our sojourn in life, and that is by the power of the Holy Spirit.
But then, you can’t have the Holy Spirit living in you if you are not born again, that is, if you have not surrendered your life to the rulership of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
So, if you so will, say the following simple prayer to receive Jesus Christ into your heart:
Dear Jesus, I thank You for dying on the cross of Calvary and washing me clean of all my sins. I now accept You as my Lord and personal Saviour. Please lead me through life and write my name in the Lamb’s Book of Life, so that I will make heaven in my last day. Amen
