As Nigeria’s Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani marks his first year in office, he took to X on Wednesday to share his reflections on the ministry’s achievements and outline the initiatives that have laid a solid foundation for the nation’s digital transformation.
“Today, as I reflect on my time in office as Minister of Communications, Innovation & Digital Economy, I am proud of what we have collectively achieved over the last year in laying a foundation for the growth of our digital economy,” Tijani stated.
His tenure has been guided by a strategic blueprint that aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope Agenda,” a vision that Tijani says has kept the ministry focused on delivering growth through innovative projects, programs, and policies.
Expressing gratitude to President Tinubu for the trust and support, Tijani also extended his appreciation to the team across the Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy (FMCIDENigeria), including its various departments and agencies, for their efforts in driving the ministry’s agenda.
“We have started on a positive note, and I will be highlighting some of our current and ongoing initiatives over the last year to showcase what we have done so far,” Tijani said, emphasizing the ministry’s commitment to ongoing progress.
Among the key initiatives is the 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) program, which Tijani describes as the world’s largest talent accelerator. The program aims to create a robust pipeline of technical talent within Nigeria, positioning the country as a global leader in digital expertise.
Additionally, the Build-A-Thon initiative is another cornerstone of Tijani’s efforts, aimed at introducing young students to embedded systems and coding at an early age.
This initiative is designed to prepare Nigeria’s youth for future roles in technology, ensuring that the nation remains competitive in the global digital economy.
Looking ahead, Tijani acknowledged the challenges that remain but expressed confidence in the ministry’s ability to achieve its objectives with continued support.
“I recognize that there’s more work ahead, and I am confident that together and with your continued support, we will deliver on our objectives,” he concluded.
