Hello! A blessed and refreshing day to you my dearly beloved! I welcome you to ARISE devotional for today Tuesday the 6th of December 2022 on the platform of the Builders Forum. My name is Abraham Olufemi Ojeme.
Today is the second day on our devotional series for this week with the topic,
THE DANGERS OF INEPTITUDE IN THE LIFE OF A BELIEVER
I took time to painstakingly define the word ineptitude yesterday.
This was necessary for you to have a clear head on concerning our focus for the devotional this week.
At the risk of repeating myself, let me list out the six definitions I gave yesterday as a take off for our deliberation today.
I defined ineptitude as follows;
- Lacking qualities as efficiency or skill required to produce desired results.
- Characterized by inappropriateness and gracelessness.
- Not suited to circumstances.
- Generally incompetent and ineffectual.
- Inappropriate, unsuitable and out of place.
- Lacking skill or aptitude especially for a particular task.
This is because of the demand that the Lord places on you as a believer according to Heb. 5:12-13
12 For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat.
13 For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe.
There is a level of skill that is required of you as a believer with which to handle the word of God for your destiny.
The word unskillful in the scripture above Is apeiros in Greek and it means ignorance as a result of inexperience.
Take note of that statement in verse 12 above;
For when for the time ye ought to be teachers,
My friend, always remember that God has some expectations of you.
This is because of the enormous investment that Calvary has made in you.
Listen to Rom. 8:32 and please permit me to read TPT.
(TPT) For God has proved his love by giving us his greatest treasure, the gift of his Son. And since God freely offered him up as the sacrifice for us all, he certainly won’t withhold from us anything else he has to give.
Calvary grants you the access to everything you will ever need in this life if you will care to find out.
This is where ineptitude comes in. If this much provision has been made for you, why would you live at a lower level?
Listen to the injunction of Apostle Peter in 2 Pet. 1:3-4.
3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
In other words, Calvary has made provisions for you to live the kind of life that puts you above the limitations of this world. Wow!
My dear, you cannot choose to live in ignorance of this.
This kind of provisions can’t be at your disposal and you choose to be oblivious of them. That is ineptitude sir!
This is my take, you must be inquisitive to know the ways and the how of God.
Calvary is too mysterious for you as a believer to just choose to live life on trial by error.
It is this uneasiness I want to generate in you from today.
You cannot afford to be at ease when you have not yet assessed the fullness of Calvary for your life.
Listen to the rebuke of prophet Amos in Amo. 6:1.
Woe to them that are at ease in Zion, and trust in the mountain of Samaria, which are named chief of the nations, to whom the house of Israel came!
This admonition is to believers. You cannot afford to be nonchalant. No!
Can’t you see the signs of the times? Can’t you see the happenings all around the world?
Shouldn’t you be inquisitive about the ways and how of God?
Can you really afford to just live on without asking questions?
You will need to develop some skills that will help you to navigate the times we have found ourselves as believers.
The first skill we want to look at today is the skill of intimate relationship with God.
Listen to me: even though salvation is the free gift of God, relationship with God has to be intentionally developed.
Some believers have taken their relationship with God for granted so much so that their salvation no longer has meaning. Familiarity has bred contempt.
My friend, if you want to say bye bye to ineptitude, you must develop a personal relationship with God that is special to you.
For me, Jesus is not just a deity. He is my God. It is a personal and intentional relationship. I hold Him in the highest regard.
I recognize that in my meditation, prayers and worship. Jesus is very personal and special to me.
That is why, to help our understanding, the Bible compares the church to marital relationship. Eph. 5:22-33 gives the details of that.
That illustration confirms that polygamy can never fly in Christianity.
Your relationship with your spouse is personal and unique. It cannot be compared with anyone else’s.
So much more with God. Your relationship with Him must be unique and special.
This demands that you must know His ways and how.
Have you ever sat down to reflect on your experiences with God and you personalize the question David asked God in Ps. 8:4?
What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?
Yes, I believe that question should arise one time or the other in your meditation, prayer or worship. Not really as a question but as a rhetoric.
That kind of mindset will lead you into a deeper relationship with God.
Would you allow me to challenge you to make that your focus this end of the year.
Just take some time to stand amazed at the awesomeness of God in your life.
When I checked through the scriptures, I observed that Kind David and his son Solomon, did a lot of that in their relationship with God.
No wonder, these two kings had awesome relationships with God that imparted their lives and made them such unique leaders of their time and worthy references up till this day.
Yes, they had their errors and mistakes but you cannot deny that they had unique relationship with God that gave them a position like no other in the annals of history.
My friend, make a commitment to carve a niche for yourself with God.
The patriarchs of old did so, why not you?
Let’s put aside casual Christianity and begin to develop a burning and shining relationship with our Lord and Master Jesus Christ. Hallelujah!
Please let me pray for you.
- I curse everything trying to trivialize your relationship with God.
- I pray for a new connectedness between you and God today.
- I dislodge whatever is trying to take the place of God in your life.
- I pray for a personal revival in your life.
- Begin to see God as God in your life and not just as a supreme deity.
- Because He is your God, situations must bow to you this month.
- The Christ in you will manifest the glory of God in your life.
- Because He lives, you will not die but live to declare the glory of the Lord even in this last month of the year.
- I command the gates of the end of year blessings to be lifted for you.
