There was tension in Enugu on Monday as gunmen suspected to be enforcing sit-at-home order shot sporadically at traders.
It was learnt that the gunmen opened fire on individuals going to early morning market around new market area of the state.
An eyewitness account told our correspondent that a male passenger was shot dead while others were injured during the attack.
The source said the shooting by the gunmen who caused pandemonium in the area on Monday morning led to the death of one of the passengers. “One of the passengers going out for morning business was shot dead.”
But the police in a swift reaction said there was no casualty during the attack.
Police Public Relations Officer, of Enugu State Command, ASP Daniel Ndukwe who confirmed the incident said there was no death recorded.
Our correspondent reports that the Monday sit-at-home has continued to paralyze the economy in the state as shops, offices, schools, markets etc. are under lock and key.
