TUKO.co.ke recently told another story of a Nairobi woman who tolerated her abusive marriage for the sake of her kids. Carol Maritim was happily married to her ex-husband and father of her two children after eloping with him but that did not last long. After giving birth to their second child, things started falling apart and she became her husband’s punching bag. He abused her both physically and emotionally and at some point tried to forcefully circumcise her.

Maritim did not only suffer in the hands of her husband but also her mother-in-law’s who would always incite her son. The mother of two was desperate to provide a complete home for her children and that made her persevere the violence. She later realised her life was at risk and decided to walk out of the marriage with her children.
