English Premier League legend Alan Shearer was full of praise for Brazil’s World Cup star Casemiro shortly after the central midfielder bagged a brilliant assist in the closing minutes of Manchester United’s 3-0 win against Nottingham Forest in a Premier League clash at Old Trafford on Tuesday night.

One of the most outstanding players on the pitch, the former Real Madrid man made things look so easy as he stole possession from Nottingham Forest striker Emmanuel Dennis before laying a lovely through ball to Fred, who fired into the bottom corner to wrap up the scoring.

Casemiro intercepted Dennis’ pass as Nottingham Forest looked set to launch a counter-attack.

Aside from losing possession which was largely down to the individual brilliant of the Brazilian, Dennis was lively when he came on, completing a game-high three dribbles and won one foul for Nottingham Forest.

Speaking on Amazon Prime, via BBC, Shearer stated : “That’s why Casemiro is my man of the match. He has been fantastic in stopping Forest attacking.

“He sees the picture quicker than anyone else. He looks up, he picks the pass. He strides forward and puts it into Fred’s path. He just reads the game so well. Good finish also. Game over.”

Dennnis was on target and registered two assists in Watford’s home win against the Red Devils during the 2021-2022 season.
