Outgone Lagos State Commissioner of Police (CP), Abiodun Alabi, yesterday assured residents of Lagos and Ogun states that they would exercise their civic right in an atmosphere of peace and security during the forthcoming general election.
He spoke against the backdrop of viral voice notes of alleged threats to non-indigenes to vote for a particular political party or they would be visited by violence.
Alabi, who was redeployed as acting Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone II comprising Lagos and Ogun states, said the police would continue to deal with those who believed they could make the states ungovernable.
He said security operatives had continuously mopped up firearms and arrested miscreants and cultists, adding that he would ensure they did not relent in their efforts to keep troublemakers at bay.
Alabi said: “Some of them had done it before and they had it rough with us. We won’t tolerate any act of lawlessness and with the support of my CPs, the election will go peacefully. Nobody can take us for granted.
