Victor Osimhen has been tipped to join Manchester United in a £107m transfer move from Napoli and Odion Ighalo – who stopped him joining the Red Devils in 2020 – has given his fellow Nigerian a glowing review.
Odion Ighalo believes that former club Manchester United would be “a good fit” for Nigerian compatriot Victor Osimhen – three years after being the reason behind him rejecting the Red Devils.
Osimhen, 23, has been linked with a big-money move to Old Trafford after his incredible campaign with current employers Napoli, scoring 21 goals in 26 games. But it’s not the first time that United have been sniffing around the red-hot striker, who’s rated at an eye-watering £107million, having been in the battle to sign him from Lille in the summer of 2020.
Andrew told Complete Sports: “It is very true that Manchester United wanted Victor but he told me something like he had too much respect for Odion Ighalo to be competing for shirts with his senior colleague. My brother holds Ighalo in high esteem and he just didn’t see himself going to Old Trafford to battle for a striking role with the highest goalscorer at the 2019 AFCON in Egypt.”
Solskjaer managed to find a new striker, albeit with a completely different profile, snapping up Edinson Cavani on a free transfer after he left Paris Saint-Germain. But now the Red Devils have retuned to Osimhen and want him to be the answer to their long-running striker problem.
With Wout Weghorst‘s loan from Burnley due to expire at the end of this term and Anthony Martial still struggling with injury issues, Solskjaer’s permanent successor, Erik ten Hag, wants a new No.9. Tottenham talisman Harry Kane and Benfica hotshot Goncalo Ramos have been linked alongside Osimhen, who Igahlo has given a glowing review of and recommended that United sign.
