Nigeria may be moving gradually towards bankruptcy if the reports that 80 per cent of the produced crude oil is stolen and 90 per cent of the remaining revenue is used to service loans which the country already borrowed are true.
This was the submission of the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye during today’s Sunday service at the church. He said the situation is worsened by the fact that, unlike during the regime of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, when a debt cancellation effort yielded results, there doesn’t seem to be much being done about the situation now but rather the country is borrowing more.
On the issue of the upcoming elections in 2023, the clergyman said he was not sure that elections will hold that year, especially since “my Father has not told me anything in that respect.”
He added that he is not a politician and would never be one, and does not vote because all parties are represented in the church, but would pray for any politician approaching him for prayers that God should let His perfect will be done in the individual’s life.
He said that he had at one point asked a thousand volunteers to join him in prayers for the nation and 26,000 responded, adding that members of the church needed to pray the more, as fresh issues like the Kaduna attacks had arisen.
He concluded that Christians should not go to sleep concerning the nation’s polity, as all sorts of people , including witches are showing interest in the matter.
