Nearly three weeks after her murder, police are yet to make any arrest, leaving Sule’s family and friends searching for answers.

It was gathered that Adewale Sule, the father of the deceased, was in their living room when he heard gunshots.

“When I heard the gunshots, I came out. I saw the guy shooting my daughter. He shot the last round and I pursued him. … He ran back to his car,” the father was quoted as saying.

It is also understood that Adewale and his wife have been moved to an undisclosed location for safety.

Najeebat Sule was sitting in her car outside her parents’ home when a gunman approached her and opened fire

Habibat Magaji, a close friend of Sule, said they had been texting back and forth about photos they took after their sleepover when the deceased suddenly stopped responding.

“I got a call that something had happened and I was, like, ‘No there has been a mistake.’ I’m waiting for her to reply to my text. She had texted me at 5:30. I can’t think of anything that would make anyone want to kill her,” she said.

Sule and her family immigrated to Philadelphia from Nigeria in the early 2000s.

She had recently earned a master’s degree in public health from West Chester University and was pursuing a doctorate.

In 2019, Sule emerged a second runner-up at the Miss Nigeria International pageant.
