There was panic in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, on Thursday as armed political thugs suspected to be from one of the factional groups within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) launched attack on the campaign office of the Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola.
The attack was launched moments after members of the Aregbesola led faction, otherwise called ‘The Osun Progressives’ (TOP), rounded off their weekly meeting at the campaign office, known as Oranmiyan House.
They also shot at the transformer located in the premises with the hope to ignite fire from it but for the power outage, the transformer would have ignited fire.
While shooting into the building, there was panic as everybody was running helter-skelter for safety. There was also an attempt to set the canopy on fire.
It would be recalled that since Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, openly declared that he is with TOP, the two camps had been engaging one another in fight.
On Tuesday, there was fight between the two groups at Ikirun, headquarters of Ifelodun Local Government Area of the state.
One person was, however, arrested in connection with the sporadic shooting and attack on the Aregbesola’s campaign office by security operatives.
