Tragedy hit the Enugu State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Thursday when one of its chieftains slumped and died on the hustings.
The Enugu PDP was thrown into mourning over the demise of the acting chairman in Udi Local Government Area, Mr. SKB Ogbuagu.
Ogbuagu was said to have collapsed during a town hall meeting of the Enugu gubernatorial candidate, Barr. Peter Mbah, at Ezeagu Local Government Area.
According to sources, the town hall meeting with the people had ended and everyone was moving to the reception venue when the Chairman, said to be an asthmatic patient, had a crisis.
He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he gave up the ghost.
The unfortunate incident happened on Thursday evening.
However, the party is yet to issue an official statement.
Effort to speak to the state party chairman, Augustine Nnamani, on the incident, is yet to bear fruit as he did not answer his calls.
