President Muhammadu Buhari and his wife, Aisha, have cast their votes at the Kofar Baru Polling Unit 003 of Sarkin Yara ‘A’ Ward of Daura, Daura Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The President, who was accredited at about 10.01am on Saturday, cast his vote at exactly 10.07am.
However, in a seemingly dramatic twist, President Buhari openly displayed his ballot papers to the public for about 20 seconds before dropping them into the ballot box.
A cross-check of the registration list at the polling unit indicated that the President was number 185 on the list with VIN number 90F5B02C90295694732, while Alsha’s VIN number is 90F5B02C90295695410 and 180 on the list.
About 884 prospective voters are expected to cast their votes at the polling unit.
In line with the plan to check excesses of politicians, the nation’s anti-graft agencies, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (I CPC) were fully on the ground to monitor and stop cases of vote buying.
