Army Chief, Others Were Heroes In Death – Sen Ndume

The Chairman, Senate Committee on Army, Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume (APC Borno South), declared Saturday that he received the news of the late , Lt.  General Ibrahim Attahiru, and 10 others with shock.

General Attahiru and some other military officers with cabin crew of  Nigeria Airforce Aircraft, died Friday evening at the Kaduna Aiport when the plane ran into a landing mishap caused by inclement weather.

Saddened by the development, Senator Ndume in  personally signed statement in Abuja, lamented that the late gallant General died at  time when the nation was looking up to him to effectively provide the necessary  that would eliminate insurgency and other forms of criminality in Nigeria.

He described Attahiru’s death as  national tragedy, and that the army chief and others on board the ill-fated flight died as worthy heroes.

He described Attahiru and members of his team as highly dedicated and patriotic Nigerians  have already commenced the implementation of strategies that the Nigerian Army needed to tackle external and internal forces that are threatening the nation’s peace.

He prayed Allah to  eternal salvation for all that lost their lives in the air mishap.

He also prayed that the  members would have the fortitude to bear the loss.

He said, “No doubt, this is a difficult loss for the entire Armed Forces at this crucial time when we are confronted by  in all parts of the country.

“I pray that Almighty Allah (SWT) will  the families and the Armed Forces the strength and fortitude to bear the painful loss. Amen.”
