The Management of the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Abeokuta, Ogun State, has confirmed that there was an explosion at the facility on Thursday.
The management said the explosion as reported, occurred at the main event Marquee of the complex.
It was reported that the explosion happened when two technical vendors were conducting routine servicing of air conditioning units.
However, it was said that only one of the technicians died, while the other sustained serious injury.
In a statement made available to newsmen by Vitalis Ortese, OOPL Ventures Managing Director, the emergency team of the Library immediately took action to prevent further damages and subsequently moved the injured to the hospital.
“The management assures that all visitors to the library, guests at the Green Legacy Resort, the pupils at the CCGK nursery and primary school, clients at the cultural villages and staff present in the premises at the time of the incident are safe.
“Management wishes to condole the families of the victim who died while sending a get well message to the injured”.
Meanwhile, appropriate authorities have been called upon by the OOPL to investigate the causes of the recent gas explosions in Abeokuta.
