2023 Presidency: Billionaire businessman, Jimoh Ibrahim, backs Tinubu

Billionaire businessman, Jimoh Ibrahim, is backing the Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Ahmed Tinubu to emerge Nigeria’s President in 2023.

Mr. Jimoh who is the chairman and chief executive officer of Global Fleet Group, a diversified conglomerate based in Nigeria, with business interests and subsidiaries in neighboring West African countries is also the party’s senatorial candidate in Ondo State.

In a post on his official twitter account on Wednesday, Ibrahim wrote, “I am unequivocally BATified”.

The billionaire was also pictured with a face cap that shows the logo of the APC Presidential candidate, who is now widely known as EMI LOKAN for his campaign slogan.

Business mogul, Ibrahim, had clinched the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket for Ondo South Senatorial District.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Mr Ibrahim polled 190 votes, defeating his closest rival, Mathew Oyerinmade, who polled 92 votes.

Boye Oyewunmi got 23 votes while Olusola Iji and Morayo Lebi scored nine votes each, and Muyiwa Akinfolarin had zero votes.

The Returning Officer, Yinka Orokoto, who announced the result, said the election was free, fair, and transparent.

He said that out of 330 delegates, seven were absent while 323 delegates were accredited to cast their votes, without any void vote.

“The election is free, fair, and transparent as you can see. Thanks to electoral officers, party agents, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officials, and security agents for a hitch-free election.

Ibrahim’s declaration follows billionaire Femi Otedola who had expressed support for the presidential bid of Bola Tinubu, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Mr Otedola, whose father, Michael Otedola was a former governor of Lagos State as Mr Tinubu, posted a picture with the APC flag bearer in France on Twitter with a caption.

“I am always excited visiting my Great Friend Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu @officialABAT

“May God grant him his heart’s desire in becoming the President of this great Nation …F.Ote,” the tweet reads.

Mr Tinubu will be facing former Vice President Atiku Abubakar of the PDP, Peter Obi of the Labour Party, Rabiu Kwankwaso of the NNPP and several others in the 2023 presidential election.
